Welcome to #InspireAfricaProject! Several years ago, a servant of God established a church in a state called West Virginia, in the United States of America. He laboured to grow the church, but only seven people attended Sunday services. In fact, only three people usually show up during midweek services. But the servant of God refused to give up. He kept labouring, and believed that God would crown his effort with success.

One day, a lady that knew him told her pastor to invite this servant of God. The pastor said that he didn’t know the man, but because he trusted the lady, he decided to invite him. He told the lady to get the dvd of the West Virginia pastor for promotion on Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN).

While they were showing the part of the West Virginia pastor on the television, the owner of TBN saw it, and was moved. He told his staff to contact the pastor and give him one year free slot on a global Christian television. Guess who this unknown village pastor was? Bishop T. D. Jakes! That single opportunity gave T. D. Jakes a powerful platform that turned him into a global voice.1(2)

There are important lessons we must learn from this story. First, although the church was not growing, but Bishop T. D. Jakes never gave up. Although only seven people showed up on Sundays, and three people during midweek services, he kept on teaching and believing that he will definitely succeed. Many people would have given up at that point and miss the opportunity to become a global voice! To stand out in life, you must be ready to stay with your calling or assignment even when it’s not flourishing.

Secondly, T. D. Jakes had a value added friend that was interested in his success. God used that lady to change his level forever. Endeavor to make quality friends. Stop flowing with wrong company because it will profit you nothing. Your association determines your destination. Whom you follow determines what follows you. Your company determines what accompanies you. Show me your friends and I can accurately predict your future.

Thirdly, he was busy when favour knocked on his door. He developed himself to preach well, and equally had messages on dvd that he gave to the pastor that invited him. What if he didn’t have any video when God opened the door for him? Keep developing yourself, and one day, the doors of opportunity will swing open for you!

Finally, the favour of God took him from the back to the front within few days! So it takes labour to provoke favour. You canont sit in the house on daily basis and keep hoping and praying that very soon, your blessings and favour will arrive. Every lazy man is doomed. We have elevated favour to a magic wand in this part of the world. No wonder many people are sitting in their houses hoping that favour will suddenly turn them into billionaires!

Look at how king Solomon painted the picture of what will happen to lazy people. “One day I walked by the field of an old lazybones, and then passed the vineyard of a lout; they were overgrown with weeds, thick with thistles, all the fences broken down. I took a long look and pondered what I saw; the fields preached me a sermon and I listened: “A nap here, a nap there, a day off here, a day off there, sit back, take it easy—do you know what comes next? Just this: You can look forward to a dirt-poor life, with poverty as your permanent houseguest!”

Laziness is a preacher. It’s sermon sends a clear message to lazy individuals. When you keep sleeping around, taking a day off to rest and jist with your friend, and encourage yourself to relax and wait for God’s favour, poverty will visit you like a thief! Stop hanging around in life in the name of waiting for blessings from God. Stop using the call of God as an excuse to become a burden to others. Engage in a profitable venture, and while you are there, favour will shake hands with you.

Indolence will always breed decadence. Favour is not an escape route from labour. Idleness will definitely mould special bricks that will sustain a beautiful monument called failure. Excuses are the cheapest commodity in the market place, both buyers and sellers are stranded in life. Your life will amount to nothing until you make your stay on earth count. Fantastic dreams without diligence will lead to depression!

Favour is fantastic, but it can only locate you when you are busy. Every favoured person in the Bible was busy when God located him or her. Always remember that you are like a house, full of treasures that are under lock and key! It’s time to give birth to the treasures you are pregnant with. Welcome to the world of unlimited possibilities!
