Welcome to #InspireAfricaProject! It’s very common in our clime to see young men who are practically hanging around in life. Some of them usually gather every morning to argue about football and footballers. The argument even lead to fight sometimes. A young man was killed one day because of this unimportant argument. The irony is that they are discussing and fighting about their age mates who are earning over £200,000 every week from the clubs they play for.
Dear friend, how old are you? In case you don’t know, if you’re twenty-five years old, it means you have spent a total of 9,125 days; 219, 000 hours; and 13,140,000 (thirteen million, one hundred and forty thousand) minutes on earth! If you are forty years old, it means you have spent a total of 14, 600 days; 350, 400 hours; and 21, 024,000 (twenty-one million, and twenty-four thousand) minutes on earth.
If you’re fifty years old right now, it means you have spent a total of 18, 250 days; 438, 000 hours; and 26, 280, 000 (twenty-six million, two hundred and eighty thousand) minutes on earth! Dear friend, what did you do with these gifts that God gave you freely? What value are you adding to both yourself and humanity? What are you doing with your life?
If you normally sleep for ten hours on daily basis and you’re forty years old right now, guess what, you have spent a total of 6, 083 days; 146, 000 hours; 8,760, 000 (eight million, seven hundred and and sixty thousand) minutes on your bed. If you’re fifty years old right now, and you normally sleep for ten hours on daily basis, it means you have spent a total of 7, 604 days; 182, 500 hours; 10, 960, 000 (ten million, nine hundred and sixty thousand) minutes on your bed!
What this simply means is that about thirty-five percent of the number of years you have lived on earth was spent on your bed! What a life! If you add the time some of us spend in watching television and visiting friends and relatives, you will discover that about fifty percent of our entire life was spent on things that does not matter.
To come into this world unannounced, and leave unannounced is a great injustice to both Divinity and humanity. You’re too loaded to be stranded in life. You were specially wired by God to impact your generation positively. I usually remind myself that thousands, if not millions of destinies are tied to my assignment on earth, so my failure will affect those people negatively.
Dear friend, what is your vision in life? What is your mission on earth? What do you want to accomplish before you die? Why are you living as if you are going to live forever? Don’t you know that your stay on earth is very short? Dear young lady, why are you wasting this precious opportunity in a brothel? Dear young man, why are you wasting this precious opportunity in an armed robbery gang? Why are you behaving as if you have spare life somewhere?
To wake up in the morning and relax at home doing nothing is an injustice to your enviable destiny. To play ludo game, draft game or even scrambles during working hours when your contemporaries are busy in their various professions is the fastest way to come last in the race of life. How can you depend on your aged parents at this age when you should be taking care of them? Why are you squandering the most important period of your life?
Several years ago, a famous servant of God was invited to preach in a church program in a particular nation. After one of the sessions, a driver was assigned to take the minister to the hotel. As the man of God entered the car, he looked at the driver and screamed. What happened? The driver was his class mate! Can you imaging being the driver of your class mate?
If you are a student reading this article, I want you to understand that if you miss this opportunity to add value to your life, it’s gone forever. In case you don’t know, there are lawyers who are working in the chambers of their class mates. There are medical doctors who are working in the hospitals of their class mates. There are young men who are working in the company of the their contemporaries during their apprenticeship years.
Life is a choice. We make choices and they turns around to make us. If you don’t want to become an object of mockery in your generation, kindly make the right choice today. Vow to make your life count. Vow to leave your footprint on the sand of time. Michael Faraday had few years of formal education, but he made up his mind to become scientist and an inventor. The rest is history. Dear friend, the choice is yours. Make your life count today. Wisdom is profitable to direct!
