UNDERDOGS ARE DANGEROUS! (PART 3)

Welcome to #LessonsFromHistoryClass on Inspire Africa Project! If you see David running down to the battle ground to fight Goliath, what will you say? Am sure you will see David like, “Nwa Nza the bird who after a heavy meal, challenged his chi for a battle!”

But did Goliath with all his years of fighting and heavy armour defeat the unknown and untested teenager called David? Never! How did David defeat Goliath? Simple, he used his own weapon and strategy. If David had used Goliaths’ style to fight him, Goliath would have turned him into barbecue!

Do you know why companies are now looking for individuals that can get the job done not necessarily their certificates or experience? Because sometimes, your certificate and experience can become a hindrance to your progress.

The management of Radio stations like Wazobia Fm and Nigeria Info Fm literally employed unknown voices on the radio and succeeded in making instant impact in the market. Employing well know On Air Personalities (OAPs) means repeating the old strategy.

So underdogs win the battles of life by using their own strategy instead of using popular and well accepted strategy. King Saul wanted David to use Goliath’s strategy by giving him his own armour, but David rejected it. Using that armour would have given Goliath an upper hand to finish David. Let’s consider the last sets of steps T. E Lawrence and his troop took to defeat the Turks.

3. Individual Intelligence. All of are pregnant with creativity and uncommon intelligence that can surprise even the devil. Although T. E Lawrence and his troop were not well grounded in the art of war, but they utilized their ability to come up with solutions when challenges show up. Although they did not have certificates from any military academy, but they could think and proffer solutions to any challenge that shows up.

All of us have our own individual intelligence, it’s just that we don’t maximize it. Am sure there are things you do sometimes that even surprise you. Success and exploits in life and destiny demands individual intelligence and that is why I insist that we should discover where God wired us to function and build our entire lifetime around it.

4. Knowledge of The Country. The depth of your insight on any issue will determine your height of exploits in that area. The soldiers knew the country more than their enemies which give them an edge during the war.

One of the biggest mistakes we make sometimes is going into businesses and assignments we know nothing about, and when will fail or begin to struggle, we will turn around and blame the devil.

The 21st century economy is knowledge driven! It’s no longer how strong you are, but what you know. Can’t you see that baby billionaires and multi-millionaires are rising in their numbers in this century more than the previous centuries?

The more you search, the more treasures you discover, and the more treasures you discover the more wealth you create. Invest your time and money in acquiring relevant knowledge that will empower you to soar in life. Build a functional library in the area of your calling and read at least two books every month the rest of your life. Attend conferences and seminars regularly, and don’t forget to submit to an experienced mentor to sharpen your skills and lead you to the top!

You must keep searching and researching if you really want to remain relevant in both your profession and your generation! The depth of your insight determines the height of your exploits!

5. Courage. Although T. E Lawrence and his men did not have the best weapons money could buy, but they were courageous enough to face the Turks! Courage is to keep moving in the presence of danger.

Stop panicking and pursue your dreams with the tenacity of a bulldog. Stop waiting for the right time to establish your ideas, just start and the rest will be history. There can never be a favourable period to do anything in this life, just start first, and the rest will take care of itself.

The assignment of all those ‘what ifs’ that are flying around in your mind is to delay you and deny you the opportunity to break records and stand out in life. Silence your fears by stepping out, and you will discover that fear is just a mirage. Nothing is as powerful as being courageous. It hummiliates fear and silences the voice of doubt and discouragement. Your friends can equally become the agents of discouragement too. The only solution is to silence them with results.

Marcus Garve said that, “If you have no confidence in self, you are twice defeated in the race of life.” Steve Jobs opined, “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.”

Nelson Mandela concluded the matter this way, “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”

Step out today with boldness and the tenacity of a bulldog because you’re are destined to win! Welcome to the world of unlimited possibilities!
