UNFORGIVENESS KILLS

Welcome to #InspireAfricaProject! The act of forgiveness is one of the biggest lessons we should learn from Jesus Christ. Whenever I see people who are calling fire to kill their perceived enemies I usually wonder whether they believe in the same Jesus Christ who forgave those who killed Him! Jesus forgave the people that accused Him wrongly, used a whip that has sharp objects to flog Him, placed a crown that has six inches nails on His head, and finally nailed Him on the Cross!

Am sure when Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”, those who killed Him wondered what kind of Man would forgive just like that. Jesus had the power to invite twelve legions of angels ( 72,000 angels) to deal with his enemies, but He didn’t do that, instead He forgave them. Unfortunately, instead of forgiving, we will look for different ways to eliminate the person.

This story will change your life. “In 1978, Simon Weston joined the Welsh Guards in the Great Britain. As part of Falklands Task Force, he was aboard the Sir Galahad when it was bombed by Argentine planes. His face was badly disfigured, as he suffered burns of 49% of his body. He has undergone seventy operations since that fateful day and will still have to endure more.covers-book-1

It would be easy for him to spend the rest of his life being bitter. Instead he said, “If you spend your life full of recriminations and bitterness, then you’ve failed yourself, failed the surgeons and nurses and everyone else, because you aren’t giving anything back. Hatred can consume you, and it’s wasted emotion.”

Instead of drowning in bitterness, Simon has become an author, a motivational speaker, and the founder and vice president of Weston Spirit, a nonprofit organization that has worked with tens of thousands of young people whose lifestyle reflect a poverty of aspiration in the United Kingdom!”-Jack Canfield.

There are people who forgave someone and long-term migraine headaches disappeared within minutes. Others were healed of chronic constipation and colitis; some were released from arthritis pain, improved eyesight, and a host of other debilitating sicknesses! Researchers have discovered that unforgiveness leads to all manner of ailment that have killed millions of people.

Apart from sickness, the moment you forgive someone, it will look as if a heavy load just checked out of your life. I know that your husband abandoned you and the children and married another wife, yes it is painful, but I want you to forgive him.covers-book-3

I know that your wife conspired with your children and beat you up, and they don’t even respect you as the head of the family, kindly forgive them. I know that a man raped you, and that act led to pregnancy. Now you’re a single mother and out of school, and everyday you keep placing various degrees of curses on him, please forgive him and move on.

Personally, I refused to be hurting because of someone who is enjoying himself somewhere. Most times, the person you are angry at may not even know what’s going on and you are dying in silence. If Simon Weston was bitter about what happened to him, he wouldn’t have accomplished anything meanigful in life. If you refuse to forgive the person who offended you, look at what Jesus said,

“And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.” Mark 11:25-26.

So when you forgive your enemy, God will forgive all your sins. You will become lighter on the inside, and all the sicknesses you’re struggling with as a result unforgiveness will checkout permanently. When I see people who say they will only forgive someone over their dead body I laugh. You are hindering yourself not even the person.

Louis B. Smedes said that, “Forgiving does not erase the bitter past. A healed memory is not a deleted memory. Instead, forgiving what we cannot forget creates a new way to remember. We change the memory of our past into a hope for our future.”

If there is someone who should be angry for the injustice the government meted out to him during apartheid, it should be Nelson Mandela. But look at what he said, “As I walked out the door toward the gate that would lead to my freedom, I knew if I didn’t leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I’d still be in prison.” Forgiveness is a choices, hatred is equally a choice, make a wise choice today. Wisdom is profitable to direct!
