Welcome to #InspireAfricaProject! I strongly believe that where you are presently is the result of your positive or negative habits. Habits are the things you do daily that have brought you to where you are presently. Your life cannot change until you change your habits. I believe that nobody can make positive progress in life until he or she imbibes positive habits.
Your habit can hinder you from succeeding financially. For example, if you fail to change your money habits, it will be difficult for you to create wealth. A young man who has the habit of branching into a club or bear parlour (a pub) every evening to squander N7,000 will always blow N2.5 million annually. That person can be praying and fasting for breakthrough, but his negative habit will ensure that what he will continuously get is financial breakdown!
The person who developed the habit of smoking one packet of cigarette daily has indirectly arranged the way he or she will die. You know that smoking is dangerous to your health, but the habit you spent quality time to develop has conquered your ability to reason! It is easier to develop a habit than to conquer it.
“Psychologists said that up to ninety percent of our behavior is habitual. Ninety percent! From the time you get up in the morning until you retire at night, there are hundreds of things you do the same way every day. These include the way you shower, dress, eat breakfast, read the newspaper, brush your teeth, drive to work, organize your desk, shop at supermarket, and clean your house.
Over the years, you have developed a set of firmly entrenched habits that determines how well every area of your life works, from your job and your income to your health and your relationships. The good news is that habits help free up your mind while your body is on automation. This allows you to plan your day while you are in the shower and talk to your fellow passengers while you are driving your car. The bad news is that you can become locked into unconscious self-defeating behavior patterns that inhibit your growth and limits your success.
Whatever habits you currently have established are producing your current level of results. More than likely, if you want to create higher levels of success, you are going to need to drop some of your habits (not returning phone calls, staying up too late watching television, making sarcastic comments, eating fast food every day, smoking, being late for appointments, spending more than you earn) and replace them with more productive habits.”-Jack Canfield.
So you can see that habit can help you rise to the top, and can equally assist you to crashland in a terrible manner. If you see someone who is overweight, kindly ask him how he got to where he is. Am sure he will tell you a particular eating habit he imbibed for a very long time that brought him to where he is. To get rid of that weight, he must imbibe another set of habits that will include changing his eating habit and serious exercise. So the same process you used to develop negative habits will be multiplied to get rid of those habits.
You cannot become a first class student if you fail to imbibe first class habits. You cannot get to the top in your profession if you fail to imbibe the habits of champions. You cannot become a billionaire if you fail to imbibe the habits of billionaires! You cannot stand out in life until you develop outstanding habits.
Our major challenge in this clime is that we usually hope for a fantastic future but we are not ready to play our parts to make it happen. We believe that the moment we fast and pray things will suddenly change without our input. God is not a magician, He needs your corporation to get you to where you should be in life. You cannot be praying for prosperity and at the same time develop habits that will hinder the prosperity from manifesting. Someone can be praying and fasting for favour but failed to change his habits to accommodate the favour.
Mahatma Gandhi said, Your beliefs become your thoughts, Your thoughts become your words, Your words become your actions, Your actions become your habits, Your habits become your values, Your values become your destiny.”
Aristotle opined, “Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.” Kindly take a sheet of paper and write the top ten habits that have limited you so far and how to overcome them. To be continued. Welcome to the world of unlimited possibilities! What did you learn from this discussion?
